Realtrac, the real-time shop management system, now includes a new planning Bill of Material capability to integrate with its existing Buyout Bill feature. A list of materials and outside services needed to manufacture a part can be maintained by part number or drawing number, and is available for use with any estimate or job.

A drag and drop feature makes creating or modifying a Bill of Material especially easy. A Realtrac user only needs to highlight an item from an Item Master library, use the mouse to move the item to the Bill of Material list and enter the quantity needed to produce a single part. A default vendor and price are automatically inserted from the Item Master as well as showing any quantities currently on hand or on order. The system has the flexibility to easily accommodate new and one-time items that may not be included in the Item Master library and have not been used previously.

This enhancement to Realtrac simplifies the calculation of material and outside service costs for quoting and job costing as well as the conversion of estimates to actual jobs . The Bill of Material for an actual job is automatically updated to reflect the quantity being manufactured and includes all information for making purchasing decisions and generating purchase orders.

The new Bill of Material capability complements Realtrac's highly regarded Complex Jobs module which graphically tracks and schedules multi-level assemblies in real time. Job costing and purchasing decisions for assemblies are greatly simplified.

In addition to Bill of Material, Realtrac's comprehensive Materials Management System includes preparation and tracking of material and outside service Purchase Orders. A complete Inventory Control System especially designed for job shops tracks raw material, finished and semi-finished parts, customer material, tooling and fixtures.
